Ubuntu Screenshot Tools Not Functioning (Black Screen)

I’ve been working on finding a great screenshot tool to help with this blog and other note taking. I use Ubuntu Desktop for my daily driver and have been having an issue where no matter what screenshot tool I install, the screen goes completely black when I attempt a screenshot

Screenshots only seem to work with the default screen capture tool built into Ubuntu.

I like Flameshot though, so here was how I fixed my problem

Edit the custom.conf file by using the terminal command below:
sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf

Remove the “#” comment from the “WaylandEnabled=false” line

Type “cntrl-x” to exit, then “y” to save the file.

Reboot Comp

BOOM! Flameshot now working – Also tested with Shutter and Shutter also works.
