TSHOOT – Fortilink LACP Link Aggregation not working.

I was assisting another engineer troubleshooting an issue where a Fortiswitch LAG wasn’t coming up when connecting Fortiswitch directly to the 802.3ad fortilink port on a new Fortigate 101F.

I have never run into this issue before. Good times.

The link was showing up on the interface, but the LAG interface was showing down. Fortiswitch couldn’t get an IP address.

Used the command:
diag netlink aggregate name <name of lag interface>

The results of this command showed that no LACP link was attempting to be established.

After researching further, the issue ended up being that there was a VLAN 1 configured tagged on the Fortilink interface which was causing issues with the Fortilink protocol.
